Hello Everybody,

I am Marco, I am 23 years old and I live in Cadoneghe, a small town near Padua. I am attending the second year of "lingue per la comunicazione internazionale" and I am trying to graduate in Spanish and English.

I also work every day as a trainer in a gym, also if at first sight I don't seem precisely like a Schwarzenegger: I like very much this job because I can speak with a lot of people that are there in their spare time, so this means that they are there to work but also to have the chance to joke and have good time (even if not all clients are perfectly kind!). I obviously like to make sport and stay with other people in my spare time, for example during the weekend when me and my friends meet to go out and have a drink or eat something together.

That's all, folks!

Marco

Ciao! Mi Chiamo Timothy Brenner. Sono studente all'università Tulane a New Orleans, Louisiana.

I live in Mestre...Do you konw Mestre? It's ten minutes far from Venice... I'm sure you all know Venice!! Isn't it true??

Above you can see one of my photos...this was made during my 23th birthday last year!

I'm really excited about this new adventure ...I hope this exchange will be useful and stimulating for everyone! Well, see you soon! Bye, Giorgia.

Hello world!

This is me, Maria Chiara. I am 23 and I live in Marghera, near Venice, but I study in Padua. Since it takes just 20 minutes by train to reach this beautiful city, I commute between my home and Padua

    • whenever there is lesson. Given that travelling is one of my great passions, as far as I’m concerned this kind of life is not so bad (just a bit humdrum!) but maybe many other students deeply disagree with me… I’m attending the second and final year of the specialist degree course “Lingue straniere per la comunicazione internazionale”. I study Spanish and English. If everything goes on properly, I will take my degree in July. For my thesis I’m translating a novel by a young Basque author from Spanish into Italian. Translating is an activity I really like, something that relaxes and satisfies me. I like finding out problems, thinking carefully about them, even for some days, and finally solving them, or at least I try to do so… That way I do not let my brains rust! I’d like to work as a translator in the future. My family, in particular my mother – who is also a very good friend – and my two nephews – Lorenzo, 6 years old, and Matteo, just three months old – as well as my boyfriend Thomas are all my life. I am quite outgoing, I love dealing with people, cultivate good friendships but, most of all, meeting new people all over the world. So… I look forward to this online exchange starting up!See you soon,Maria Chiara

HI FRIENDS!!! I am Francesca, I come from Tregnago, a little village in the countryside near Verona (Romeo and Juliet’s town). I am attending my second year of Specialistica in Foreign Languages and International Communication at the University of Padua. I live in Padua in an apartment with four fantastic girls. Just few things to describe my character: I am a dynamic person, I love travelling and meeting people; my favourite sports are jogging, aerobics and swimming. I also love nature and pets (especially dogs!). I think that this exchange represents a fantastic opportunity to meet new people who live in the other side of the world, build a friendship and exchange opinions and interests while at the same time practicing a foreign language. I read that many of you’d like to come to Rome, I agree with you: Rome is the capital of Europe but you can’t miss the opportunity of visiting Verona, Padua and Venice, they are really fantastic!!

That's all for the moment,

Francesca DB

Alice Albini

Hi everyone! My name’s Alice -not the blonde one from the Disney movie as you can see from the photo - I’m 25 and I live in a small town near Padova. I’m attending the second and final year of the specialist degree course “Lingue straniere per la comunicazione internazionale” and the languages I study are Spanish and English even if I speak French as well.

What do I like to do in my spare time? Like most of the people in the world I like going out with my friends, listening to music, reading and so on, but my biggest passion are sport, rugby in particular, and I spend many hours watching TV series on TV, of course…I’m really addicted!!

I love rugby because my father was a rugby player and I grew up in strict contact with this sport. Although I’m Italian, (please, don’t misunderstand me, I’m proud of my Italian National Team) my favourite team is New Zealand, the "All Blacks": they are called in this way because their uniforms are entirely black.

That’s all for the moment.

Cheers

Alice

Susanne March

Hi everyone!

My name is Susanne and I come from the little province Bolzano, which is situated in the most northern part of Italy on the border to Austria and Switzerland. In this province the majority of people speak German and that is the reason why my name does not really sound like a typical Italian name . I speak German with my parents at home, but with most of my friends I speak Italian. When I started university five years ago, I moved to Padova and I did not find it hard to settle in: Padova is a beautiful city, I get on well with my flatmates and I have a lot of fun with my friends.

During the last semester, I was studing in Madrid (Spain) as an Erasmus student and it was a great experience. I met a lot of people fom all over the world (of course also Americans) and we had a lot of fun together. The thing I like most is travelling, because it gives you the chance to meet and interact with people from different countries who have a different cultural background. Im my spare time I like going out with my friends, listening to music, swimming, etc. .

That is all for the moment! Hope to see you soon on Skype!!!!

Susanne

Lara Sbampato

Hello guys!

I'm Lara and I live in Sanguinetto a very very small village near Verona but I study English and German for International communication at Padua. This is the last year of University and honestly I'm quite tired of studying I hope to start working as soon as possible possibly in tourism.

In my free time I like reading Japanese comics (manga), role-playing games such as HeroScape and Dungeous and Dragons and epic movies like The Lord of the Rings but my favourite saga is Star Wars, I love Dart Vader!

I don't practise any sport however I love going out for a walk with my boyfriend ( on the contrary he's very sporty) especially in the mountains like for example on Monte Baldo or on the Carega that are two groups of mountains between Lake Garda and Verona.

Well, that's all for the moment

See you soon

Lara

Hello everybody!

My name is Francesca and I'm studying English and French at the University of Padova.

I spent three years at the University of Verone, where I graduated in 2005 and, then, I decided to move to Padova for two years to conclude my studies.

I live in Angiari, a small village near Verona. I'm sure you know Verona, the city of love and Romeo and Juliet. I hope you'll get the opportunity of visiting it because it is much more than what Shakespeare shows us: its atmosphere is unique!

After university, I would like to work in tourism, probably as a travel agent. I think it will be great to plan people's holidays and find out new places to visit.

In my spare time, I love going out with my friends and boyfriend, drinking and talking with them.

I'm not a real sportswoman, but I like swimming and walking; sometimes, in summer, I even play football with my friends.

But now, I want to know something more about you. I believe we are starting a stimulating experience together and I really look forward to know all of you.

See you soon, guys.

Francesca

Alice Lonardi

Hi there everyone!!!

My name is Alice and I'm a student at the University of Padova where I'm studying English and German trying to learn Dutch too I'm very interested in how languages are used by native speakers, in how dialects survive within the local communities and in how non-native speakers succeed in learning foreign languages.

I live in a small village which is just in the heart of three beautiful places that are fond tradition for tourists: Verona, Mantova and Lake Garda. I hope to gain tourism job opportunities in my future life so I will have the chance to promote worldwide my native surroundings too

In my free time I like doing sports: I play volleyball, I cycle nearby and I've only recently discovered a passion for mountain biking. I saw under http://bike.tulane.edu/ that you're very well organized for bicycling in New Orleans... that sounds great

I'm really looking forward to know you all

Alice

Hi there!!!

I'm Isabella. I am 23 years old and I live in Vicenza. I'm studying Foreign Languages ( English, German, Spanish) at the University of Padua. I'm very excited to know all of you American students!!

As I have already mentioned, I live in Vicenza with my mother, my brother (when he is not around the world) and my dog Arturo. In my spare time I love to go out with my friends or with my boyfriend and his friends. This is my favorite hobby especially during the weekends. From Monday to Thursday instead most of my friends are away because they study in another city so I like to just stay at home to watch movies or go around to parks wih my dog. Once or twice a week (it depends on how much time I have) I look after a five-year-old and should also teach him some English but he doesn't show much interest about the subject. For the rest of the time I am at university or in a train going to or coming back from Padua.

I also love to travel when I can do it. I have lived in South America and have gone for a holiday to Germany and France and next week I'm going with two friends of mine to Barcelona!!! However, I also love to visit Italy..it's a beautiful country. Verona and Rome are my favorite cities and of course I love Sardinia and the peolpe who live there, but I like it especially during the months when it is not full of turists.

Well, I can't wait to know some new interesting people!!

Hi everybody, my name is Lucrezia, I'm 23 and I live with my family in a small village, Ospedaletto Euganeo, ( a really boring place for anyone!) near Padua. I commute everyday to University by train and it takes me more or less 45 minutes!! Anyway I try to enjoy myself going out with my friends- I never refuse an invitation for a pint-,reading some good novels ( I really like adventure genre) and watching films ( my favourite director is Quentin Tarantino) .To relax myself I listen to music: my favourite bands are Counting crows, Queen and Coldplay.During the week I work as preschool teacher and I go to gym, before I played volleyball but then I broke my wrist so my "career" ended up! What a pity! Now I' m attending the second year of specialistic degree in Lingue straniere per la comunicazione internazionale,I'm studying English and German. As all my scoohlmates said, I hope to finish my courses in a short time, even if I have no a clear idea what I want to do in the future! However I' d like to travel beyond Europe and my dream is to stay for a while in New York..For the moment I'm enthusiastic to start this new experience, so If you want to know more about me, get in contact!A presto,Lucrezia

Hi people! My name is Svjetlana and I’m 24 years old. I am from Bosnia, which I left to move in Italy when I was 12 years old, because of the war.
I study languages at the University of Padua, but I live in Vicenza with my family, even though I would really like to go to live by my own.
Now I’m attending the second and final year of “Foreign languages for international communication”, that is the specialization that I started as I finished “Disciplines of linguistic and cultural mediation”. I study English, Spanish and Croatian.
I would like to move abroad, especially in England or in America to make practice of what I learned during this 5 years of university lessons.
Since I was 14, I have started to work as a waitress, especially during week-ends, in order to be more independent and to pay my studies. But I have to admit that I am really tired of doing this job and I can’t wait to finish the university and to start doing something more interesting. But I am a little bit sceptical about what the future can give to me. Here in Italy the situation is very difficult, there are no certainties for young people about the future.
I like to spend my spare time listening to music (I can’t live without my mp3 player) and reading. In week-ends I like to go out with my friends, to talk about what we have done during the week, to lough and sometimes to go to clubs, where I like to dance all night long… When I am with them I just forget the problems of everyday life.
I hope this exchange will be something very interesting!!!

Tania and Daniele, I managed to reduce the size of your photos so I put them right on the page. Hope that's ok with you :-)

Martina, I could reduce yours but the computer says it can't find your picture. Where did it go? :-(
