My name is Simone.

I'm a student of Telecomunications Engineering.

I'm really happy, and this is the first time, I have had to introduce myself on a wiki in English!

Sincerely, I'm afraid to write with mistakes or meaningless phrases... but I hope to learn how to write correctly and, especially, speak (or talk?) with you!

Tomorrow, and during these next few weeks, I'll add more (or what I'm able to describe) about me.

Week 2: Family and hobbies

 

So, after 20 days I write something about me and the first skype meeting..... There were a lot of carnival parties, my birthday,... but also some homeworks and many things to study!

The first exchange was for me incredible! In fact that was the first time I spoke in english with other people on skype...

You have to think about the fact that I have some relatives in Usa and I never spoke with them.... Sometimes I call my uncle, but we speak in italian...

However I'm really happy to participate at this exchange. I think that this is a good opportunity to learn not only english, but also other cultures.

In the beginning of first calling I was terribly embarassed. In fact I was speaking in a way between italian and english.... (I don't know what language I was speaking!) But after 5 minutes, my tongue was running!!!

Speaking with Katarina is a pleasure because she has a really clear pronunciation. In the beginning I had some problems of concentration, but after I took habit (I rose up headphones' volume...) and the conversation continued without problems. I hope I've been clear speaking in italian, otherwise next time I try to be more clear. During conversation Dario was speaking with us, but he was unlucky for a headphone's problem.

So, the experience of Katarina was interesting because she went in Usa some years ago to study. I hope to go in Usa, but I don't know when!! Maybe I'm afraid to change nation or (it's more possible) I'm a little bit lazy :-)))

I spoke with Katarina about the university environment, Tulane and what activities a student makes apart study and when come back home.

I'm not sure, but it's possible that I didn't said nothing about my family. I'm sorry, but I was so happy that I was going out of mind...

In my family there are my parents, my brother and me. My parents live in a little town in Abruzzo (its name is Roccaspinalveti and is in the center of Italy), while me and my brother live in Padova. Two or three times a year I come back at home for holydays or to see how my parents are. My brother took degree last year, while I hope to take degree next year and go far away from Italy to know other countries and cultures.

Now, I think that next time (tomorrow... :-|) we can speak about what we haven't said....

Week 3: Environment and Recycling

 

In the last years, the problem of pollution is becoming really relevant. In Italy it's incredible that the culture limits what and how we can do to save nature. I think that you have listened the problems of Naples and Campania. In my town, there are many people that don't understand the importance of recycling or differentiating garbage collection. Here in Padova the people is more responsible and there are many ways to recycle trash. In Italy, to solve this problem there are many projects for build the "termovalorizzatori". I think that it is a bad choice because the process of burning trash cause a dispersion in air and in the ground of many toxins. There are many countries that adopt a good policy of recycling; in this way they have a really low pollution. I think that another way is to make less trash. This problem is caused from the culture, but the political class doesn't do anything (they think only on their big salary). Think about Campania where the administrators send tons and tons of trash in Germany paying a lot of money... While with that money they could create structures to treat trash.

Talking with katarina, we have pointed the fact that pollution is a big problem and we need to improve recycling. Another problem very important is the consuption of oil more and more great due to cars that become more and more big. I didn't know that in Usa people don't use gas (gpl) or methane gas: this is a way to spend less money and improve the air quality.

Hi! In these days I've too many homeworks to do. In fact last tuesday, and this one, I went to bed at 7 am to get up at 8am! In fact, I think that I need to sleep some hours....
