I was born in Seattle, Washington in the United States. I went to school at the University of Washington and at Western Washington State University where I received two master's degrees: one in Speech Pathology & Audiology and the other in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I worked for many years in Washington State and, believe it or not, in ALASKA. Now I live in a little town northwest of Vicenza. I'm married to an Italian and have a fifteen-year old son. In my free time, what little I have, I like to garden and read. I worked at Bocconi University in Milan for 10 years, but in 2002 I changed jobs and now I'm teaching at the University of Padova. Instead of commuting seven hours as I did when working in Milan, now I only have to travel three hours a day! I teach in the English department, the Media and Communications department, and at the Language Center.

Beatrice Mameli
I was born in Venice, the romantic city on the water. I have always been quite fond of traveling. After all, I took after my parents. We have a samll caravan we use to travel around Europe during the summer. I agree it may seem a strange way to make a journey, but, believe me, it can sometimes be very funny. The thing I like the most about using a caravan is that you can go wherever you want, whenever you like and yet you always have your little house with you. With my parents, I have been to Austria, germany, france Holland, Belgium and Great Britain twice, and to Prague. Then, when I was thirteen, I started to travel on my own. Ireland is one of my greatest passions!
Valentina Simonato
I am 22 years old and I live with my parents in a little town near Vicenza. During the weekend I work in a restaurant as a waitress. I enjoy my job because I can talk with people. In my free time I like swimming but I am very lazy. I like reading and listening to music. My favourite groups are U2 and Green Day but I love also Italian singers! I am quite good at cooking and I would like to prepare a typical Turkish dish, could you teach me? ;-) bye bye
Monà Gheisarifar
I'm Persian and I come from Iran. I love learning other languages and now that I'm in Italy, it is a good opportunity for me to learn Italian. Although I miss my country, my family and my friends, I'm happy here.

Hallo! I am 23 and I live in Padua with my parents and my brother. I work as a baby-sitter for two beautiful children; by now, I consider them my little brothers. During my spare time, I like swimming, reading and cooking, especially cakes. I love painting , so when I have some free time (and some money, too) I go and visit the art exhibitions which are not far-off. I love travelling; in my room I have a big map full of pink pushpins, which point out the places where I would like to go to. Up to now, I have been to Germany (Kiel), Spain (Barcelona, Alicante, Estepona, Granada,...), Paris and Crete. I have never been to Turkey, but when my brother came back from Istanbul, he told me it is an enchanting city. Another pink pushpin on my map!

Hi! I am 23, I was born in Padua and I live in a little town not too far from the city centre. I am very fond of art, I love painting even if, unfortunately, I have a very little time to do it, since painting and drawing requires quietness and concentration. In general, I love art in all its forms: from architecture to cooking, and that's why I am the chief cook of the house! Also, I really love travelling; till now I have only been to some European countries like Germany (Kiel, Munich), France (Paris), Austria (Vienna), England (London), Spain (Alicante, Orihuela, Granada, Estepona, Madrid), but if I could I would travel all around the world, and that's what I am planning to do for the rest of my life! : ) I really like seeing different places and especially I am fashinated by other cultures; indeed, one of my dreams is a journey to India!
Then, in the weekend I work as a waitress in an Irish Pub and I enjoy myself a lot!
Beatrice Borsato
I'm 22 years old and I live in a quiet town with my family. I have a brother, Ludovico, who is 23 years old and he is a lovely person.
I’m a very sensitive person and I’m a little bit fragile, but there are facts that make me stronger, like to hit on arrogant people, I can't stand them.
I’m studying three foreign languages: English, Spanish and German. My favourite hobbies are singing and dancing; music is my life. I love to go to the concerts of my idols, where I can really listen to good live music. A singer that I admire very much is Christina Aguilera, she conveys a lot of charge with her pluck!…I appreciate persons who live brightly. Every week I meet my music band to improve the repertory that we drew up, we are preparing for the high season with a mix of dance, latin-american, 70’s 80’s 90’s and many more… When I sing I can express what I can’t express just speaking. I think that words are limits to our thoughts.
Elena Mardegan
My name is Elena Mardegan. I'm 22 years old and I'm studying modern languages, cultures and literatures at the University of Padova. I live with my family in a little town not so far from Padova and therefore I have to catch the train every morning to get the university. I'm going to finish the first 3 years of the so-called "triennale" - the first three years of academic studies.
I have many hobbies but in my free time I do turist guides in my town. It's very picturesque because it is a beautiful medieval village with one of the best conserved surrounding walls in Europe. I love to listen to good music and to read good books.
I love to travel. I visited many cities as a tourist, but last year I lived and studied for 9 months in Germany, in Konstanz with the Erasmus project. It was the most significant experience of my life: I got in touch with many different cultures and I learned to appreciate those little peculiar aspects that characterize them. I lived with 3 turkish guys and I found them to be the 3 most beautiful people ever. My next destination will be Turkey of course!
Emanuela Bolognese
 |
My name is Emanuela Bolognese. I live in a small town called Rovigo, situated in the North-East of italy between Venice and Bologna. I am 27 years old and I attend Padua's University. I have got two brothers and a sister. They are all older than I. I like studying foreign languages, that's why I am studying English and Spanish at the University.
My hobbies are doing sport and reading books about art, but my favourite hobby is singing.
I have been studying it for 4 years and I sing with my boyfriend, who likes singing, too. Until last December we had a piano palyer in our group, than he had ptroblems and my group now is without a piano player . We are looking for one.
Well, now I must go, see you soon, maybe at my next concert!

Giusy La Rosa
Hi, I'm Giusy, I come from Marsala a town of the west Sicily, but for many years I've been living in Padua to study foreign languages at the University. Foreign languages have always fascinated me since I was a child, because I have always thought that it is extraordinary how people of different countries can communicate and understand each other. Here, I live with other students who now are become my dear friends. When I arrived in Padua I felt alone, but now I think that living far from my native place and from my family has made me more open-minded even if I like to keep my traditions and my habits; I like good cooking, sunny days and the sea! In my spare time I like reading, listening to music (my favourite singer is Elisa! I think that she is great!!!) and go for walks; I like travelling too. I have been to Sweden, Prague and Munich and I'd like to have the possibility to travel more in future.., One of my dreams for the future is to be a tour guide, so I can travel a lot and I could know people all over the world.
Laura Covolo
Hi everybody!!
I come from a little town near Vicenza where I live with my family: my mum Dilva who is French, my dad Marco, a wonderful cook even though cooking is only a hobby and my brother Paolo. Having a French mother has helped me to love French culture, especially its literature (my favourite French writers are Victor Hugo, Simone de Beauvoir, Prévert and Flaubert).
I love listening to music and spending time with my friends: as I always say, friendship is wanting to give more than you receive.
I also paint and I have an admiration for Impressionism, especially for Monet and Van Gogh.
I love animals (that's why I'm vegetarian and I don't eat meat at all!), that's why I think I will have a zoo when I will live alone.
Cristina Moretto
I come from a village called Roveredo in Piano, a tiny place animated by 5000 (more or less...) inhabitants and situated near Pordenone, in the north-east of Italy. There live my parents Cinzia and Ezio and my little brother Michele. I usually return home on Friday evening and come back to Padua on Sunday afternoon... it's a little bit stressful but I'm getting used to do it. During the week I live in a flat with 3 friends of mine. I'm a great lover of the 70's-80's punk and rock music, but I also like listening to modern bands. I'm also passionately fond of sports, especially of soccer and volleyball. Last but not least comes my love for art, cinema, literature, reading and travelling. In the past I went many times abroad, I visited wonderful places such as London, Southampton, Brighton, Prague, Athens, Saint Petersburg, The Hague, Delft, Amsterdam, Dublin, Vien... and now I hope that my future destinations will be Barcelona and Paris!
Elisa Groppo
I was born in Vicenza, a small town famous for its Renaissance buildings. I like sports such as handball and volleyball, but my favourite one is football: when I was young I was a goal-keeper. What I like the most is going to the mountains to take photos of landscapes and animals: at home I have I great collection of pictures. In my sparetime I like reading books and strip cartoons. I'm very fond of travelling all around the world: I have visited Greece, Great Britain, Finland, Sweden, Germany and Tunisia and it was during my travels that I discovered my passion for foreign languages.
Vanessa Haas
Hi to everybody!!!
My name is Vanessa and I'm a 23-year old German girl.
I've been a student at the University of Padova since October 2006. I decided to leave Germany because my boyfriend is Italian...
I study English, French and German.
My hobbies are travelling, going to the theatre, visiting exhibitions and museums,...
When I'll have finished my univerity studies, I'd like to teach German to Italians - perhaps in a language school.
Manola Miazzi
I like reading, watching films (except horror movies, I'm fearful), and listening to music. My favourite groups are Queen and Beatles, while my favourite writer is Luis Sepùlveda; I considered him an amazing "poet of love". I like sport too, especially football and volleyball. I'm a fan of Inter and Sisley teams. Their players are really talented and handsome. The colour which represents me is purple, while my favourite food is clearly pasta! I love travelling, I have been in Spain and France, but my big dream is to visit Mexico.
Mariangela Lion (furbettaamamondo)
Hi everybody, I’m Mariangela! First of all I’d like to explain the meaning of my skype name that made my collegues laugh…Litterary it means “cunning girl (furbetta) loves (ama) the world (mondo)” and I choose it for Msn because I like its sound and because I really love the world! In fact travelling is my bigger passion; usually, I do it by myself: I leave Italy with a huge lemon trolley and I just move from a place to another sleeping in hostels and trying to meet and know the more people I can…that’s why I decided to learn languages and why I’m still at the uni even if I’m 27 years old!! During my spare time I’m a primary school teacher and when schools are closed I enjoy dancing J, snowboarding J J, cooking J J J and cleaning my flat K. I live in Padua, only 7 kilometres far from my parents’ house, that’s enough to meet them not more than three times a month: that helped our relationship to get better and makes me relaxed. As I told yet, I love the world and I love people but I need my own living space…don’t say it’s because I’m getting older because I’ve ever been like that!!!! I need to stop my fingers that are as “logorrheic” as my tongue when I speak Italian, you’re lucky my spoken English is dull and uneasy and I leave a lot of space to the other speaker.
See you on skype!
Elvira Maria Papa
I'm Elvira and I'm 22 years old and I've been living in Padua for over a year with my 30 year old football-addicted brother Gianni that works here as a civil servant. But I come from Mondragone, a town on the Italian south-west coast,in Campania, where my beautiful family and most of my friends live.
Being far away from home has helped me to mature a lot, but at the same time it has made me realize how much I care for my loved ones and how lucky I am.
Thanks to different experiences spent at the Linguistic Liceo I've attended, I decided to study Foreign Languages and Literatures at university because they represent for me a passion more than simple school subjects.
Moreover, I love to travel and to know new cultures: my favourite experience abroad is represented by the one I've spent in Paris; I hate routine and I'm at the same time a sweet and crazy person.
I am very proud of the fact that my friends describe me as a person you can really rely on and you can have a very good time with! Friendship is really the most important value to me and I'm quite an idealist too.
